A modern brewery without green energy is like a bar without beer. We have therefore invested heavily in the installation of solar panels in recent years. We took the first step in 2021 with 1,055 solar panels. Now, 10 years after starting the construction of our Bierkasteel in Izegem, our brewery runs on 30% green energy.
We take a trip back in time to 2021 when we installed 1,055 solar panels. Together, they account for a roof surface of 5,000 m² and an annual yield of 350 MWh. That’s a great achievement as it is, but it didn’t satisfy our hunger for more green energy. The solution? Install additional solar panels.
We found the available space on the roofs of our warehouses. After the preparatory roofing work, we started installing 3,474 solar panels at the end of September 2023. Together, they account for a roof surface of 9,392 m² and an annual yield of 1,800 MWh.

Due to our investments in solar panels, our brewery now runs on 30% green energy. An overview:
