Kasteel Rouge 0.0 by Freddy Loix’s side for Ypres Rally comeback

With Kasteel Rouge 0.0 in the tank, rally icons Freddy Loix and Pieter Tsjoen will be putting their foot down for the 60^th edition of the Ardeca Ypres Rally, the biggest race on the Belgian rally calendar. What’s more, Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck is also supporting the teams of Benoit Verlinde and Maxim Decock.

For the first time in its rich history, Izegem brewery Kasteel Brouwerij Vanhonsebrouck is entering the rally circuit – with Kasteel Rouge 0.0 at the wheel! Director Xavier Vanhonsebrouck explains this shift towards motor racing: “As we all know, drinking and driving don’t mix. That’s why we’ve been waiting for this opportunity for a long time. With our new range of zero alcohol specialty beers, featuring Kasteel Rouge 0.0, we’re ready to put our own foot down and race alongside the drivers and crew on this unique circuit.”

Fast Freddy

It will certainly be unique, as Vanhonsebrouck will be supporting the comeback of four-time Belgian champion Freddy Loix. During the Ardeca Ypres Rally, Mr. Ypres – Loix has won the Ypres rally 11 times in his career – will be driving a Skoda Fabia R5. “Everyone knows how important the Ypres Rally has been for my career and partnership with Skoda. When the opportunity came to go again with the support of Kasteel Rouge 0.0, there was no hesitation.”

Loix will be joined at the starting line by eight-time Belgian champion Pieter Tsjoen as his co-driver. “Pieter is not only someone I greatly admire, but also the only person to have won as a driver (in 2001) and as a co-driver (in 2017). We will be driving a Skoda Fabia R5 from his new team, with only one goal in mind: to enjoy ourselves as much as possible.”

Even while rallying

It won’t just be Loix and Tsjoen’s Skoda Fabia R5 sporting a Kasteel Rouge 0.0 wrap tearing through the narrow, bumpy roads of the Westhoek region. Benoit Verlinde and co-driver Bert Feys’ Renault Clio R3 and Maxim Decock’s Opel Corsa R4 will also be putting their foot down with Kasteel 0.0 as their sponsor. According to Xavier Vanhonsebrouck, it promises to be a spectacular event: “Following on from our ‘Kasteel Rouge, even while…’ campaign, we want to record an ‘even while rallying’ video starring our Kasteel Rouge 0.0 cars and drivers.”

However, fans won’t have to wait until the edit is complete, as the family brewery will be giving away a few co-drives via social media. “On Tuesday 24 June, our winners will get to enjoy a unique co-drive with one of our Kasteel Rouge 0.0 drivers. It’s guaranteed to be an unforgettable experience!”
